Incorperate Soft Scaping into your landscape,DFW Tx

What Is Soft Scaping

Soft scaping is a new concept that uses living elements in a landscape in combination with masonry. It can be moss, mulch, soil, turf, shrubs, grass and  stone flower beds

The difference between soft and hardscaping is that hardscape describes the harder things in your yard like the stones, concrete, fire pits, pathways and bricks, whereas soft scaping refers to the growing elements in your landscape like plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, mulch and turf.

You can look at hardscaping as something that defines your landscaping, while soft scaping beautifies it.

It’s important to find a good balance between your yard and soft scaping elements in your yard. Balance is everything in a garden because the more balance you create, the more your garden will sustain itself.

Having soft scaping elements in your garden besides grass can be very beneficial, especially in hot and dry climates like here in Midlothian.

For example, if a garden has a flower bed around the house that consists of hardscape elements like rocks or pavers, and softscape elements, like flowers and plants, it will greatly help retain moisture in the soil to prevent cracks in the soil, and sometimes even in the structure of the home! It will help the home stay cooler because of the shade the flowers and plants provide, saving you money in the electricity cost of running your AC.

Because Midlothian has a hot and dry climate, having a flower bed around your home will definitely help you save money and maintain a healthy balance in your garden.
